Czech Study Bible
The Czech Republic has been influenced by over 40 years of communist rule (1948-1989), which has resulted in cultural and spiritual devastation. According to UN statistics the Czech Republic is the second most atheistic nation in the world.
The Czech Study Bible is a project of great spiritual significance for the Czech Republic today. The Christian Mission Society (known as KMS in Czech), with more than a decade of experience coordinating various translations and publishing projects decided to publish such a Bible. With translation principles designed to reproduce the Greek and Hebrew thought and expression as closely and faithfully as possible, this Czech translation of the Bible is similar to the NASB (New American Standard Bible).
A complete version of the study Bible was printed in June 2009. The KMS translation is only the second joint Bible translation in the history of the Czech people.
The new translation of the Czech Study Bible enables the reader to come as close as possible to the original wording, and the original message. The previous version was published under communism and is a more liberal translation. The intention of KMS is to provide a quality version of the Bible which to fill a gap in the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Czech nation.
WORD TO ALL is an ongoing partner with KMS and assisted in this project through promotion and financial support towards printing costs.
